Welcome to the shield page , below you will find pictures and descriptions of the standard shields I make and the prices. I can also custom make different shapes and types of shield to most specifications. Some examples of these can be found in the gallery page.
All shields can be supplied in one, single basic colour of your choice. White, yellow, red, blue, black or green at the basic price indicated.
For multiple colours and heraldry I charge more, please contact me to discuss your requirements.
Postage and packing are extra , please contact me for current charges. Perhaps you could collect your purchase at an event or at one of the many re-enactor’s fairs!

Round shields, 12mm thick plywood, canvas faced with leather edging and a centre boss. Standard grip is steel, leather bound but other types are available.

HEATER SHIELDS
“Heater” shields, 12mm thick plywood, canvas faced with leather edging round the upper half . Pad and 2 straps with buckles on the back.
With these shields the canvas is on TOP of the leather edge and tacked down round the back to give an authentic appearance. The term “heater” is not medieval but was coined by Victorian historians in reference to the shape.
Note standard size is 22 by 29 inches

The “Dreadnaught !”
“Bills“ getting you down? Turn the tables on them with one of these! Same construction as my “Heater” shields but with the addition of a steel centre plate!

Bucklers – Same construction as the other round shields – 15 inches in diameter is the standard but other sizes can be made.

Jousting shield. The “recurve” shield.
For the 15th century jouster. These are designed to hang over the gap beneath the pauldron and are lance “catchers”. 16mm thick plywood, no canvas covering or edge. Straps on reverse for attaching to armour . Shape shown is standard but there are many shapes and many strapping arrangements.
Price £35.00 for basic shield as above up to 12 inches x 14 inches in one colour. P+P extra.
